New Incoterms valid from 1st of January 2020

New Incoterms will come into effect on 1st of January 2020. The terms are updated every ten years and are used in international commercial transactions to agree about delivery details. Some of the incoterms are valid for all transport modes, some apply only to sea freight.

The new terms have two notable changes from the terms that were published in 2010:

  • DAT (Delivered at Terminal) will be renamed to DPU (Delivered at Place Unloaded)
  • FCA (Free Carriage) allows for Bills of Lading to be issued after loading

Additionally, there are adjustments on the insurance and safety policies. For more information on the update and courses / training related to Incoterms, please contact The International Chamber of Commerce.
