1. Survey

Our estimator will come to your residence to estimate the amount of goods to be moved. When the contract has been signed by both parties, we will open a file in our computer-system. This will help us keep track on every aspect of your move.

3. Packing

Once your file has been opened, the moving-consultant will set up the packing and loading-dates with you. Our crew will arrive with a van full of packing-material. All the packing will be done using materials designed for the job. The destination of the shipment will be taken into account when packing your goods so that they arrive in good shape.

During the packing, every colli will be clearly marked and numbered. The foreman will make a packing-list of which you will get your own copy. The packing-list serves numerous purposes: It will be needed for customs-clearance, it is an additional support for your insurance and you will have a complete listing of what we have packed for you.

Moving to Finland

We will contact you and set up the delivery of your goods as soon as we have been notified the exact time of arrival from the shipping-line, air-line or the originating agent who packed your shipment.

Clearing personal effects and used household goods into Finland is generally very quick and simple. There is little or no "red-tape" to delay the clearance of your goods.

The only item that can still be a problem is alcohol, due to restrictive legislation. We strongly discourage our clients from including wine or spirits in their removal-goods, as all alcohol included is taxable. A separate customs-clearance is needed and the duties and taxes are payable in cash to customs before release of the shipment.

Following is a brief descripition of conditions to import goods to Finland:

Personal effects and used household goods originating outside the European Union can be imported free of duty if:

  • Property has been used by the immigrant or his/her family abroad
  • Immigrant’s normal place of residence has been abroad for at least twelve months

The following documentation will be necessary for customs-clearance:

  • inventory with exact number and description of packages. Inventories accepted in the following languages: Finnish, Swedish English or German
  • copy of passport
  • import declaration, Customs form 45. (Provided by Beweship)

NOTE! Immigrant must have established his normal place of residence in Finland before final customs-clearance can take place.

Personal property imported from the EU is admitted free of customs duty, tax and other restrictions except prohibitions referred to in Article 36 of the Treaty of Rome.

Items subject to special regulations:

Motorcars, delivery vans, motorcycles

In the following is explained on which conditions a reduced amount of car tax is collected on an immigrant’s private vehicle or the tax is left uncollected. According to the Car Tax Act, car tax is levied on taxable motor vehicles imported either from within or from outside the European Union. The car tax on one taxable private vehicle imported by the immigrant at transfer of the normal place of residence is reduced by a maximum of Euro 13 450 if the following three conditions are met:

  • The immigrant has stayed abroad continuously for at least one year immediately before moving to Finland.
  • The vehicle has been in the ownership, or in the possession leading to ownership, of the immigrant or his/her spouse and in the immigrant’s use abroad for at least six months immediately before his/her moving to Finland.
  • If the immigrant has earlier brought in a vehicle free of tax, it is required that the time limit within which that vehicle may not be transferred without payment of tax has expired before his moving to Finland.

Tax reduction is not granted to a person who at the time of his/her moving to Finland is under the age of 18. Neither is it granted to a person who has earlier lived in Finland and has stayed abroad mainly for study purposes.

The vehicle imported free of duty by an immigrant is subject to prohibition on sale, hire and transfer for a total period of three years, of which time, however, for at least one year in Finland.
